RevWriter Writers Conference on Sabbatical

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven... (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

For the past four years, the staff of the RevWriter Writers Conference has worked hard to produce a quality conference for those who write for the local congregation and the wider Christian market. Considering the wonderful reviews that we received each year, I think we can safely say that the Holy Spirit has been at work through this conference. My entire staff and I have felt honored to work with many fine workshop leaders and to serve the many writers who have sought to learn more about the craft. Through The RevWriter Resource, I've even introduced you to some of the attendees. Most notably is writer Susan Reinhardt who has written many fine devotions and Practical Wisdom pieces. She has also become a dear friend: we even frequent the same gym.

This was not an easy decision for me to make. It required much prayer and heartfelt conversations with valued friends. It appears that the seasons are changing in my life. Due to my writing, congregational consulting, and leading church leadership retreats, I no longer have the hundreds of hours it takes to devote to producing a quality conference. So, we are taking a sabbatical in 2007. At this point, I am unsure of the conference's future, but will continue to discern God's call to me in this area.

To all those who have attended the RevWriter Writers Conferences in the past, you have truly been a blessing in my life, and I thank you.
