The Revwriter Resource:
Writer's Guidelines
Interested in writing for "The Revwriter Resource?"
Tell me about your experience in church leadership in your query letter.
All writers must demonstrate their firsthand knowledge of the realities
of parish ministry.
The RevWriter Resource
is a monthly electronic newsletter offering devotions and practical articles
for the busy congregational leader. Use the material either individually
or with groups. Each issue focuses on a specific ministry theme and includes
resources for parish ministry. In Advent and Lent, we'll publish just
devotions to nurture the busy spirit.
Writers retain rights
to their articles and grant The Revwriter Resource first electronic rights.
Newsletters will be archived for a period of one year at Revwriter.com,
then they will be removed from the website. I ask that writers not submit
their material elsewhere during their publication month. No simultaneous
submissions or reprints.

with ideas for articles and issue themes.
Needed:
Articles focusing
on the topics and issues directly related to congregational ministry.
Writers must demonstrate a knowledge of the practice and the realities
of parish ministry.
Articles may be
based on direct experience or must be thoroughly researched.
Deadline:
Five weeks prior
to the anticipated publication date. The editor reserves the right to
edit materials submitted.

Article format
is:
Submission
format:
Save as a text
file and cut and paste the article in the body of an e-mail and send
to editor@revwriter.com. (Some
word processing programs add special characters. Saving the file as
plain/ascii text will remove them.)
Payment:
$20 upon publication
Devotion Writing:
During Advent and Lent, we'll publish just devotions to nurture the busy
spirit.
Query first at editor@revwriter.com if you are interested in writing a devotion
for RevWriter Resource. To be included in the pool of devotional writers,
tell me your background and writing experience. I may request a writing
sample or trial devotion.
Payment for each devotion will be $10.
Submission Format:
- Use the NRSV translation.
Devotions will uplift the Grace of God through Jesus Christ, and not
judgment.
- Check the archived
copies of The RevWriter Resource to see past samples.
- When submitting
your manuscript, be sure to note the assigned lesson for the day. Double
space between lines.
- Pick a focus verse
to draw the reader into the text. The devotion may tell a story, but
be sure it is text based.
- Type your focus
verse [No more than 3 typed lines] Double space between lines.
- Type your devotion.
It should be single-spaced and should be no more than 250 words. If
you desire, you may end with a one line prayer.
- At the very bottom
of the page type Copyright 2004 Your Name. You will retain copyright
to your work and can submit it else where. You'll need to notify editors
where it was first published.
- Save as a text
file and cut and paste into an e-mail and send to me at editor@revwriter.com

Practical
Wisdom: Sharing Ministry Ideas That Work
If you have a ministry
practice that worked in your congregation, why not share it? There is
a wealth of "practical wisdom" in congregations. Let's swap
information and learn from each other.

Share your ministry idea in about 250 words. Include your name and your
home congregation.
